So I took a trip to Ocho Rios Jamaica. A former fishing village. The surrounding parish of Saint Anne is home to the rainforest, rivers and waterfalls. Dunns River Falls is terraced 180m mountain waterfall with lagoon pools, surrounded by trees.
1. DUNNS RIVER FALLS
Dunns river falls are fed by spring water, which is rich with calcium carbonate and is depositing travertine. Dunns river is one of the very few travertine waterfalls in the world that empties directly into the sea.
I had so much fun here, believe me you will feel the burn after you have conquered it all…….only thing that startled me was diving underwater. Be prepared a 100% absolutely a must do. Don’t go if you can’t climb bring your own water shoes. I purchased mine from Shoes, Boots, Sandals – Famous Footwear Online. It’s worth it to have some on hand. Ignore the vendors if you don’t want to buy anything. No peer pressure invest in a waterproof phone case or camera to take your own video and pictures.
Scotchies jerk is one of Jamaica’s favorite jerk centers. It’s known for its authentic Jamaican jerk dishes. Scotchies is steadily becoming the best place to be indulged. The setting is casual which is apart of the brand. You will enjoy your meal under thatched roofs just as the originators of this type of cooking did centuries ago (Arawak Indians).
This should be the first place you try when entering the country or the last thing you have before boarding a plane. Food and atmosphere is awesome. Some technical difficulties with ordering machines. It wouldn’t produce receipts. The employee taking the orders let it be known that this is a constant issue. I still give the restaurant 5 stars. It seems to be known for chicken, but the fish and soup was amazing.
3. RICK’S CAFE
Rick’s cafe was the first public bar and restaurant of its type on the west end cliffs, offering an alternative to negrils majestic seven mile beach. Rick’s Cafe boasted an unrivaled view of the sunset from its naturally formed cliffs.
I put Rick’s cafe under things I do rather than a place to eat. Because the food wasn’t too good but it was a cool place to hang out at, have some drinks, and watch the cliff divers. There were three cliffs divers doing their thing and allot or tourist who chose to jump to. This place gets really packed with people and the drinks are flowing and there is a lot of action with the cliff divers.
Love that place
4. MYSTIC MOUNTAIN
First off this is the most memorable thing I did in Jamaica. As a group of friends we did the sky lift and my friends did the zip lining. My other friends took pictures in the pool. I did the Jamaican bobsled. Which was so much fun! You can control the speed to go fast or slow. I pegged that thing down to go fast as i could. The sky lift was amazing. The views are spectacular and it’s quite an experience because you are so high in the air. At the top there is a restaurant but we did not care for that place one bit. Overall we loved this attraction.
5. THE BLUE LUMINOUS LAGOON
Now the transportation did not pick us up for this excursion. But I know for a fact that this is a wonderful place to visit. And that because I did my research. Jamaica’s lagoon is the most luminous in the entire world. Out of the three countries that has a luminous lagoon. So make sure you stop by and tell me all about it.
Would I be heading back to Jamaica. Well not really in a rush to. But I would go back to go to the Blue hole, and the luminous lagoon.
Where are some of the places you like to travel to?
